The Arts

The Visual Arts program at Allendale Primary School is a vibrant and innovative program that is highly respected by the school community. Our students are producing outstanding pieces of work which are promoted and displayed within the school. Lessons take place in a fully equipped, purpose-built art room and conducted by our outstanding art teacher Mrs Symington.

The music program at Allendale is a three day a week program for Year 1-6 students and focuses on teaching students musical skills and an appreciation of music.

Allendale students participate in the Annual Iluka Showcase Spectacular in Term 4. It is held as part of the Midwest Education Week celebrations in Geraldton at the Queens Park Theatre. It is a highlight on the school calendar and highly admired by the school community. The performance is usually dance based and requires a lot of commitment by the students and staff involved. Students from Years 3-7 are invited to participate in the Allendale performance.

Allendale also boasts a fabulous choir who perform at various times throughout the year. Mrs Melanie Kerrigan has added great strength to the choir with her fantastic musical background.

Each fortnight the assembly is run by one of the classrooms. The students do a performance and short speeches.

Year 6 students have the opportunity to participate in the instrumental music program. Eligible students receive free tuition from an instructor provided by the Department of Education. The students learn a woodwind or brass instrument which is available for hire. Students are identified for the program using an aptitude test.

Allendale participates in the annual Count Us In musical program where participating schools across Australia stop to sing the same song at the same time.
